Alex Umantsev coach

Alex Umantsev (Head Coach) 1st Degree Black Belt

Alex is a Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling fighter and a certified coach at Legion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy. He holds a BJJ Black Belt under Ido Pariente. Alex is a lifelong athlete and coaches fighters in ground & stand combat, as well as self-defense techniques.

Alex has been competing worldwide in BJJ tournaments and has much hands-on experience to pass on.

Giorgi Khinchagashvili

Giorgi Khinchagashvili is the first instructor raised among Legion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ranks and one of the first legitimate purple belts in the country.

Giorgi fully meets our high standards of instructor selection and he possesses not only the required BJJ skills, but also the skills and ethics necessary to be a coach. He is the coach of the kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program, which is of great importance to us and he fully realizes the importance.

Giorgi is also a national champion in grappling under the UWW (United World Wrestling) and Ukraine National Challenge champion, where he won every match convincingly and most matches by submission.

For him 2020 will be a year full of big challenges and first stop is Rome: ABU DHABI CONTINENTAL PRO JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP- EUROPE GI.

Mariam Gogishvili

Mariam Gogishvili is a first female instructor raised among Legion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ranks.
Mariam became the first woman to hold a BJJ blue belt under Alex Umantsev and a first female with the BJJ rank in the country. Mariam runs the women only BJJ and Self Defense programs at Legion. Mariam is also an active competitor and has medaled internationally.

Davit Lomadze

Davit Lomadze is one of the first Legion BJJ purple belts. He is known for his sharp technique and attention to detail when teaching. Davit is experienced in international competition scene and has won a Bronze medal on the AJP TOUR ASIA CONTINENTAL PRO in the purple belt division.

Giorgi Khinchagashvili is the first instructor raised among Legion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ranks and one of the first legitimate Brown belts in the country.

Davit Lomadze

Davit Lomadze is one of the first Legion BJJ purple belts. He is known for his sharp technique and attention to detail when teaching. Davit is experienced in international competition scene and has won a Bronze medal on the AJP TOUR ASIA CONTINENTAL PRO in the purple belt division.

Sandro Batsanadze

Sandro Batsanadze. AKA the “Wizards”  He is renowned for his keen teaching method, meticulous attention to detail, and thorough approach to instructing Jiu Jitsu. His classes are consistently enjoyable and packed with excellent techniques.

Nodar Andguladze

Nodar Andguladze, holding a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, offers a unique teaching approach, especially when instructing both children and parents. Following a successful career as a professional rugby player, he remains dedicated to his love for Jiu Jitsu.

Tyson Read

Tyson Read is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt hailing from Australia, having earned his black belt under the tutelage of Paul Sayers. Currently, he is actively involved in training and teaching at Legion. Tyson is not only a dedicated competitor but also a valuable addition to the team and coaching staff, contributing significantly to their success.

Misho Dofidze

Misho Dofidze, a seasoned judoka with over 15 years of dedication to the sport. With 5 years of coaching experience, Misho has not only imparted his knowledge but has also carved his own path to success. Misho participated in Numerous international tournaments, he proudly holds titles from both global stages and prominent Georgian competitions. His stint with the Georgian national team adds another layer to his career in the world of judo. Beyond borders, Misho made his mark in an Italian judo club, expanding his experience. Misho Today Leads The Judo Classes In Legion Didi-dighomi. And wishes to further contribute and grow within our Team.
